And Size 14 seed beads Approx. 2 1/8 inches in diameter |

NOTES: This pattern begins with a CHAIN. There will be some unwinding of shuttles, to slip the thread through a bead already on other thread. If omitting beads, replace them with measured picots. Simply ignore all references to stringing beads and unwinding/winding shuttles. | |
Materials required: Thread, approximately 20 feet. 162 beads One plastic-coated paper clip OR brass safety pin TWO shuttles All rings are made with S1, unless indicated S2. "-" = MEASURED picot to fit bead Size 10 thread and size 10 beads, ¼" picots Size 40 thread and size 14 beads, 1/8" picots "o" = "Slide one (1) bead down to last stitch" "ooo" = "Slide three (3) beads down to last stitch" BPJ = Beaded Picot Join PBx = Position x number of beads into wrap around hand for a ring S1 = Shuttle 1 S2 = Shuttle 2 |
![]() String only ONE bead onto thread and wind HALF of the thread onto S2, with bead. Place paper clip onto thread to hold beginning picot open. If you tat direct-method, you need not wind S1 yet. |
chain a: 2-2. Slide bead down into position BEFORE (not inside) the next ring. (S2) Ring A: 3-3-3-3-3-3. |
Unwind S2 thread and pass S2 thread through bead at base of Ring A, toward chain so that it looks like a BPJ. |
String 100 beads onto S2 thread and rewind S2. String only 16 beads onto S1 thread and wind S1. chain b: 2-2. Ring B: (PB3)2o2-2o2-2o2. chain c: 2+(BPJ to b1 or c3)2+(BPJ to next A)2-2. Repeat Ring B and chain c, 4 more times. Repeat chain c once more. chain d: 2+(BPJ to c3)2+(BPJ to last A) 2+(BPJ to a1)2+(remove paper clip and SLJ to beginning picot). |
Split Ring C: (PB1)2o2/2o2-2o2. Slide one bead from S2 down to stitches. |
Unwind thread from S1 and pass S1 thread through this bead in the same direction as S2 thread is going, so that it looks like a BPJ. |
String 23 beads onto S1 thread and rewind S1. Split Ring D: (PB1)2o2/2o2. chain e: 2o2o2. (S2) Ring E: (PB7)2o2o2ooo2o2o2. chain f: 2o2o2. Ring F: (PB2) 2o2+(next B4)2o2. chain g: 2o2o2o2o2o2. Ring G: (PB2) 2o2(next B2)2o2. Repeat chain e through Ring G around, ending with a chain g. Cut, attach (D/e), tie, hide. Blocking will most likely be required. |
